Objectives

This course will enable the candidate to gain complete knowledge of laparoscopic instrumentation and enable him to assist efficiently in Laparoscopic surgeries.

  • Assist in Laparoscopic surgeries – Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, Laparoscopic appendicectomy, Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy etc.
  • Setup Laparoscopic instrument trolley independently
  • Learn to install and check various energy sources like Harmonic, Bipolar, Ensealetc
  • Learn about Operation theatre NABH protocols
  • Presentation and manipulation of various equipments, design, principle, ergonomics, and sterilization methods.
  • Theory and “Hands On” practical demonstration on pelvic trainer
    • Presentations and video projections
      • Introduction to laparoscopic surgery: history of laparoscopy
      • Basic principles, cleaning, sterilization protocols
      • The operating theater, preparing patients.
      • Surgical equipment: description, cleaning and ways of use: insufflator, cold light source, camera, monitors, irrigation/suction device, electrosurgery.
      • Laparoscopic instruments: graspers, hooks, scissors, instruments for ligature, clips and automatic graspers.

    The candidate will be awarded a certificate in Laparoscopy Operation theatre Course from BIMAST after the course.

    After the completion of the course candidate will have ample opportunities for getting a job in any hospital which has a laparoscopy department.
