Objectives

According to the American Urological Association, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is one of the four choices for removing kidney stones. A machine called a lithotripter (or “stone machine”) creates shock waves that break a kidney stone into bits small enough to pass out with urination.

At Bhandari Hospital and Research Center, ESWL was started way back in 1998 with the introduction of German made Dornier Lithotripter for the first time in the region. Since then the institute has treated more than 50,000 patients with lithotripsy in both Renal and Pancreatic stones. The success rate of institute in ESWL is at par with the best in the country. The lithotripsy suite is equipped with two state of the art Lithotripsy machines- Dornier and Siemens.
